Culture of Safety
The rural communities of the Northeast U.S. depend on healthy working forests, and the people that harvest the trees are the fabric of these communities.
A safe and healthy workforce is critical to the overall success of the working forests. Unsafe work conditions and unprofessional practices leads to higher Workers Comp. Costs for the industry, which can have a tremendous negative effect on the health of the people and the businesses that are supported by a working forest.
To meet its mission The Trust to Conserve Northeast Forestlands is proud to offer a 16 hour online logger safety training. This training, along with an overall Culture of Safety from the logging companies, can keep your employees safe and can keep our working forests on a healthy and productive path.
Providing a Culture of Safety:
- Leading by example
- Updated and practical safety plan
- Scheduled safety training
This training alone will not accomplish the lofty safety goals set by the industry, a strong Culture of Safety from the logging company owner and supervisor is needed. This training is meant to be the foundation of a successful culture of safety at the company level.
A great emphasis is placed on safety due to the fact that logging is one of the most dangerous professions in America.
